electronic IDentification, Authentication and trust Services 2.0
The eIDAS 2.0 legislation is the European Union's enhanced framework aimed at ensuring the security and interoperability of digital identities across member states. Building on the original eIDAS (electronic IDentification, Authentication and trust Services) legislation, eIDAS 2.0 extends its scope to embrace the evolving landscape of digital identity, particularly decentralized identity models. It aims to establish a legal foundation for cross-border recognition of electronic identification and trust services, including electronic signatures, seals, time stamps, and related trust services. This legislation plays a pivotal role in fostering digital transactions and interactions within the EU, ensuring they are secure and interoperable.
In the eIDAS2.0 legislation references are stated on technicial specifications. These are for each trust service specified in ETSI standards. Organisation that provide these trust services must meet these technical specifications in order to operate in the eIDAS2.0 ecosystem as Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP). More details on our roadmap to become QTSP certified against the applicable ETSI standards can be found at certifications - QTSP.
